Dear Supporter,
My name is Dominique Sierra and I am a senior this year at A+ Academy. Since this is my last year in high school I have been looking for different opportunities to pursue this summer. Mr. Schloesser, the assistant band director, has given me the opportunity to march with the Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps based out of Ontario, Canada this summer. A Drum and Bugle Corps is a competitive marching band that performs all over the country. The drum corps I will be participating with will tour through the northeastern parts of the United States as well as Canada as a part of Drum Corps Internationals Summer Music Games starting June 29th and lasting through World Championships on August 15th.
Although there are many reasons I want to march this summer, the most important reason is to further my musical education. This is important to me because I have chosen to study music education when I go to college next fall. Being a part of this drum corps will not only further my music education but I will come back with a sense of accomplishment improving my self-confidence and self-esteem. Being a part of the Blue Saints will mean that I will be completely devoted to my teammates. I will not only be performing with them but I will spend every minute of everyday interacting with people from all over the country.
However, spending most of the summer marching with the Blue Saints will not be a free trip. In fact, it will cost well around one thousand dollars to cover the cost of food, transportation, and housing while I am on tour this summer. I am in need of sponsors to help me pay for this learning experience so that I can have money to pay for college in the fall. Without your help I will not have the money needed to march this summer. The Blue Saints have set up a sponsorship program for its members who are in need of financial assistance. I would really appreciate any assistance that you may be able to provide. I am not expecting the full amount by any means, all I am asking for is a small contribution to help me achieve my goal. Please make your contributions payable to the Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps noting my name and they will credit my seasons tuition and tour fees. Your contribution is also tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt for any amount over $25, but any size donation helps and is appreciated.
